Hello! My name is Danielle, and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I have 5 years of tutoring experience in various math courses, working with students ages 6 to 22. Currently, I work as a Math Tutor at Malcolm X Academy Elementary School, supporting students across all elementary grade levels. I also have experience as an SAT Math course instructor, helping students develop problem-solving skills and test-taking strategies to achieve their target scores.

In high school, I tutored elementary students and those in pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus. Lessons focused on exam preparation, homework assistance, and deeper exploration of complex topics. Most sessions were one-on-one, with occasional group exam prep sessions of 4-5 students. In college, my tutoring centered on pre-calculus, trigonometry, and calculus, providing individualized support for coursework. I also have experience with SAT and ACT math preparation, having scored in the 95th percentile on the SAT math section. Additionally, I earned perfect scores on both the AP Calculus AB and BC exams, giving me valuable insight into effective test strategies.

My tutoring approach is tailored to your needs and learning style. We start by reviewing class notes to align with your teacher's methods. From there, we’ll work through class and homework examples with step-by-step problem-solving techniques and test-taking tips. While I provide worksheets and additional examples, the focus remains on your coursework to stay on track. Every student learns differently, especially in math, and my goal is to find the best way to help you succeed. To get started, please share your class notes, materials, and textbook details before our first session so I can create a personalized plan. I look forward to working with you!

ACT Math

ACT Math

The math section on the ACT generally consists of questions from algebra I and II, geometry, and pre-calculus. I have many years of experience tutoring these subjects, as well as tutoring specifically ACT math. While this section of the test can be tough for many students, there are many tips and tricks to help you succeed! Together we will walk through examples of the different types of questions to look out for, how to solve these problems both quickly and correctly, and how to use tricks for narrowing down your answers.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is one of my favorite subjects of mathematics and also one of the most important, in my opinion. I have been tutoring students in algebra since I first took the class in middle school (10+ years ago) and I have always enjoyed helping students succeed in the subject. Algebra is all about getting comfortable with variables and formulas and knowing all the tricks to solving different types of functions. It is truly the stepping stone for all higher level math and I cannot wait to help you understand the subject more!
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have been tutoring algebra and pre-algebra since I was in high school! I have always had a passion for subjects since they are so important for higher level math classes. Pre-algebra and algebra are so useful in our everyday lives and I am always finding real life examples to help my students better understand the subject. With pre-algebra, my main goal is to help you grow more comfortable with integers, fractions, and variables in equations.
