When I was in high school, I started meeting with a College Counselor at my school for help on my applications and I remember feeling so at ease after getting reassurance that I didn't need to figure it all out before I graduated. When I started thinking more about it, I realized that I wanted to help others, just as she helped me.
Whether I was tutoring elementary school kids in high school, summer camp counseling in college, or working as an assistant Kindergarten teacher in grad school, I've always had a calling to work with young minds. My years of experience, coupled with my Master's degree in School Counseling, taught me patience, empathy, and creativity. I am now a practicing College & Career Counselor at a high school and have helped numerous students navigate the college application process and write their college entrance essays.
I have always been extremely interested in the college application process and have therefore studied the ins and outs of the system. Not too long ago, I went through the process myself, so I know firsthand how to best support students. My ability to empathize with others helps me connect with my students so we can work well together. My tutoring style is to listen first, use a solution-focused mindset, and build up confidence in my students.
Applying to college can be stressful, but I am here to help! I aim to get students excited about and confident in their essays and applications. As someone who has had to write a lot of papers and essays, I know how to tackle the writing process and can provide many tips for the trade. I specifically have a lot of experience in writing and helping others write the Common App essay and the UC PIQs.
