Hello! My name is Angel.

As an educator, there is nothing more satisfying to me than helping someone find their strengths while working with their areas of difficulty, transforming those into useful tools. We will take a guided approach to tutoring, taking stock of your individual learning needs and using those to our advantage. We will work together to get to the answers, drawing on your strengths, while developing a toolkit of transferable reading and writing skills that are catered to and suit YOU!

I received my MA in English; Creative Writing from San Francisco State University’s nationally esteemed program in May of 2023 and I’m currently completing my MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University.

My 4+ years of experience as a tutor and supplemental instructor includes K-12, community college, and university levels and has afforded me a vast skill set of multi-modal, dialectical, and directed approaches to tutoring. I’ve worked in writing centers, classrooms, and individually with students.

I’m highly skilled in working with ESL(L2), neurodivergent, learning different, and differently abled students.
I am qualified to tutor both reading and writing across multiple subjects. I can help with test prep and subject learning for all ages. I can also help with thesis or scholarly work.

Skills we may focus on: reading comprehension, global and line-level issues in writing such as structure and clarity, grammar, vocabulary, citation, metacognitive approaches to reading, annotation, study skills, time management, or other skills based on student need

I can also guide you in creative writing endeavors. I am a published poet and writer with extensive experience. I work in all genres; fiction, poetry, and non-fiction. I will offer you valuable feedback on craft and line-level issues, help you manage your time, and set actionable goals for yourself.
