Science is my passion! I tutor college-level chemistry, biology, and biochemistry, focusing on building strong fundamentals, improving problem-solving skills, preparing for exams, and working through homework assignments efficiently and confidently.

I recently earned an M.S. in Chemistry at the University of San Francisco, where I conducted a two-year thesis research project on metal binding in antimicrobial peptides. While there, I taught a variety of chemistry lab courses, including general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and experimental biochemistry, and received top student ratings in course evaluations. I also taught and mentored undergraduate lab members, helping them become proficient in foundational laboratory techniques and interpreting experimental results.

Before this, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of San Francisco with a B.S. in chemistry and a concentration in biochemistry. As an undergraduate chemical education researcher, I also helped design the University’s undergraduate analytical chemistry lab course. Through teaching and designing lab courses, I gained a deep understanding of the most effective strategies for teaching scientific concepts.

Lessons with me typically involve working on homework and exam-prep material, where I guide students in answering questions and determine which topics need more review. The key to my method is teaching students to break down big, overwhelming problems into smaller steps that are easier to solve. Students learn a reliable problem-solving process that can be applied across a broad range of courses and gain a deep understanding of fundamental concepts rather than simply memorizing formulas. I often find that when a student says they don’t know the answer to a question, they actually do; it’s just that they don’t know how to apply their knowledge to the problem at hand.

Crucially, students will “learn how to learn” and gain skills that will serve them throughout their academic career. I look forward to hearing from you!
