Hello! I am Abisai (pronounces AH-bis-eye). I have always been very invested in mathematics and STEM overall, which led me to major in computer engineering in CSUN. At CSUN, I also gained experience as a mostly online tutor, tutoring calculus for 2 years. Students I have the most experience with are young adults, which I have tutored both one-on-one and multiple at once.
My approach to tutoring is to see what the student understands first and then help them refine their skills by walking them through the first problem we work together. The next problem, I have the student walk me through the problem to the point they can, giving pointers along the way if necessary. If the student gets stuck before completing a walkthrough, I help them the rest of the way. The process repeats until the student is able to complete problems on their own. This process may be long, but many students have told me that it has helped them pass their exams and classes!
Note: I always work on the problem as the student is working on it, as this makes it easier to say where any mistakes occurred, if any. I will not complete the first problem without asking questions for understanding. I absolutely will not just give out answers to complete homework.
