Hello,
I am an English teacher and have been tutoring privately for the past 20 years. I have a wide range of curriculum to help students reach and exceed their grade levels. Although I am new to Wyzant and have no reviews yet, I do have many testimonials from my students and their parents and am happy to share. I have experience with tutoring in most subjects and grade levels, including an expertise with test prep...SAT/ACT/PSAT/SSAT/HSPT and most other tests. I enjoy helping students learn new skills and provide enrichment so that they can excel academically. I have many pleased parents and over the years have formed close relationships with the families of my students. I also spend many hours helping students with the college/private school admission process in order to give them the extra edge when applying to the private schools and colleges of their choice. As submitting well written essays is pertinent when applying to schools, I also help students edit their college/private school admission essays.
Some of the skills I help my students excel at are: reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and math. I also have years of experience in most test prep: SSAT, HSPT, ITBS, and CoGat are frequent tests I help my students prepare for. Teaching students editing skills is imperative in all walks of life so I make sure that my students have the tools they need in order to submit outstanding essays. I also have experience with ESL students and have students in other countries who wish to polish their English skills.
As a tutor with many years of experience, I have seen firsthand what a difference one-on-one tutoring can make in a student's academic career. I am new to Wyzant's platform so have no pertinent reviews but I have many from my own private tutoring, both from my students and their parents.I can negotiate on my rate.
