Hello. I am Teacher Matt. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education / English and Spanish. I am 58 and I have been living in San Diego and teaching English/ESL for 30 years. Hello. I am Teacher Matt. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education / English and Spanish. I am 58 and I have been living in San Diego and teaching English/ESL for 30 years. I currently teach an ESL class at Miramar College and I am looking to expand my tutoring options. I’ve been teaching adult students (16 and over) for 30 years. I am an expert in ESL, TOEFL, IELTS, FCE and CAE.
My strength is explaining Grammar in an understandable and fun way and then practicing it a lot with my students in writing and conversation activities.

I have a YouTube channel. The videos show me in my “classic form” explaining grammar lessons in one or two minutes in a fun and understandable way.

I am also excellent at helping students with Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Vocabulary. I use a variety of resources during my online lessons. I have online textbooks, websites and e-worksheets that we can use. Also, I have taken the TOEFL test recently myself and I can supply current feedback, tips and strategies.

I started teaching IELTS one year ago and I believe I understand the IELTS Test quite well. I have also discovered some excellent websites with authentic IELTS practice activities.

I’ve been teaching TOEFL off and on for 20 years and I've been teaching IBT TOEFL regularly since 2015. I took the TOEFL myself 2 years ago and I have worked with at least 20 students who have taken the TOEFL test in 2020 and have shared their direct feedback. I am up to date with the current TOEFL format with the 2019 changes and I'm familiar with how home testing works in 2020. I have a variety of online resources that we can use easily via Zoom including TOEFL practice tests and tips, techniques and strategies to get the best score.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Teacher Matt is very patient with me. He sends me homework, and we go through it in our zoom lesson. He gives me tips and strategies on how to attack the questions.
