Hello! I am a biomedical engineering graduate from the University of Maryland currently working at a leading biopharmaceutical company, and was on the pre-med track during undergrad. I have been tutoring other students since I was in high school and find it very rewarding to serve as a mentor to students who are in the same place I was in just a few years ago. I have primarily worked with high school students, and had taken several AP courses during my own time in high school, earning an AP Scholar with Distinction.
I also was a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist, and scored above 90th percentile in all SAT sections (there were 3 back in my day :)) as well as various SAT subject tests. I have also scored in the 97th percentile on my MCAT, with a 99th percentile score for the critical reading section, and found that many of the strategies I learned for the SAT continued to benefit me into my MCAT preparation, especially for the critical reading portion. Thus I strongly believe that all students can succeed on standardized tests with the right foundation of test taking skills, and will work with each student to determine which strategies and skills they could benefit most from.
In addition to science coursework, I am very passionate about writing and have always been recognized for my writing in both science and humanities courses. I currently also work as a freelance writer/blogger, and love helping students improve the quality of their writing. I know college essays can be one of the most stressful components of the application and I will work one-on-one with students on all stages of the writing process, from forming ideas to making final edits to ensure they are conveying the best possible version of themselves on all application materials. I am also more than happy to provide any assistance and insight with navigating the college application process.
