Through my 14 years of experience teaching at various schools in San Diego county, I developed proficiency and great interest in teaching math, reading and writing to students in K-6 grades. I have been teaching math for the last 14 years and am very familiar with the common core. I help students understand the concepts and solve a problem by coming up with multiple strategies. I help students excel in reading by accepting their abilities and focusing on their strengths and weaknesses. I believe acceptance and understanding are important in building confidence. You can make spelling fun depending on the grade level. Sounding and breaking up the word can be very helpful.
Writing has been my interest and passion from my own childhood - from writing in my school magazines, being the editor of my college newspaper, and writing my PhD thesis. I particularly enjoy helping students with various writing proficiencies improving their writing - content, organization and style.
Learning doesn't need to be boring and exhausting. It can be fun too. Soon you can set your own pace and become a self directed and responsible learner.
I have two adult children of my own. Both are college graduates and working in their respective fields. Hence my work schedule can be very flexible and adaptable.
