I focus on getting to answers quickly, as well as explaining the way the HSPT wants students to approach the test. I understand it's a lot to learn as well as a long exam, and prefer students make mistakes with me, than on the test while welcoming however the student learns best. This will require time be dedicated outside of scheduled meeting times in order to move through the material as efficiently as possible.

I also recognize not every student will understand the material the same way. If one breakdown of the information doesn't quite land, I try something else to see if that better resonates, and will do so happily as long as it takes in order for the student to walk away feeling confident in how to get to the correct answer. Having taken the HSPT as an 8th grader, I know how daunting the test can be, and I always am sure to bring joy and enthusiasm to the lessons so that hopefully, preparing for the exam feels like an enjoyable way to learn, rather than a chore.

I have background working in admissions for graduate and doctoral students, which has provided me with reading lots of essays (both good and bad). I can make sure your essay stands out from other applicants, caters to the admissions committee, and represents you the best way possible. I will hold you to the standards I held the masters and doctoral applicants, giving you the tips and tricks to an amazing essay. I will also give insight on the admissions process, so you can know the scenario in which your essay will be read, and better be able to tailor your response to that.
