I have received training in teaching English to second language learners. I am a native English speaker and I am TESOL certified.
What makes me an outstanding language tutor, you may ask? I am a qualified tutor because I show empathy towards my students. I know firsthand what it is like to learn another language. I have been in the position many times before, especially since I have a fascination for learning and mastering languages.
I know how important it is to make my students feel comfortable approaching me when they need help. If my students feel that I am not approachable or that I am distant, they will not ask me for help. Asking for help is essential for grasping a new language or new knowledge.
I grew up learning Spanish and I use it everyday. I have family and friends who speak Spanish, so I am constantly using it and staying up to date with new Spanish lingo. I started learning American Sign Language over 11 years ago. I have many Deaf friends, which allows me to practice the language. I am also in the process of becoming an interpreter.
