Bio

I'm Rajitha! As a child, I was helping my younger brother with school work. In middle school, I was explaining the slope-intercept form to my friends. In high school, it was mitosis.

I've worked with 1st graders, college students and everyone in between. I've worked with 1st graders, college students and everyone in between. My experience includes coaching 2nd grade kids as they ran around a cafeteria, racing to solve their arithmetic problems; teaching introductory Spanish to a 6th grade class; and explaining projectile motion to high school students after school. Most recently, I've been a Senior Tutor at Classroom Matters and focused on middle and high school math and science (with a heavy dose of executive functioning).

I have a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience and have previously worked in a neuropharmacology lab. I am now in a graduate program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying Learning Analytics. When I am not tutoring, you can find me singing with one of me chorus, adventuring with a local QTBIPOC outdoor group or exploring a new crafty hobby.

I teach K-12 math and science and introductory college biology, chemistry, physics and neuroscience.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I love math and I love teaching math even more! I've worked with 1st graders to college students and I can help you (or your child) at whatever level you are at. My teaching philosophy is 'less is more'. The less I say and the more I let the student figure out for themselves, the better. Instead of just lecturing, I try to also guide the student and help them solidify concepts on their own. This increases both their understanding of the material and their self confidence. Math can seem scary and I want to help everyone realize that it doesn't have to be!

Chemistry

I have tutored many high school (including AP) and college chemistry students. I understand what students tend to find challenging and have experience guiding them through the topics.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked with K-6 students in a variety of settings, teaching subjects ranging from addition to calculus. I have worked with an organization called the Du Bois Project where we focused on making math fun and encouraging elementary school students to figure things out for themselves through games and challenges. I have also tutored and mentored middle school and high school students, both working with students 1-on-1 and at a drop-in center.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I have worked with many neurotypical and neurodivergent students. As someone who's had significant personal challenges with their own executive functioning, I deeply understand that Executive Functioning challenges are not a personal failing or laziness. I work with students to create systems and boost self-confidence.

Knowledgable, Warm, and Kind

I feel so very fortunate to have found Rajitha! She is the complete package of knowledge, warmth, and patience, so that I am flourishing in areas where before, without her help and support, I was floundering. Today, we developed learning strategies and a plan that fit me! She listened and took the time to explain learning concepts and then, we put these together in a comfortable way that I feel confident I can do. She is wonderful.
