My name is Julia W. and I am a middle school teacher located in San Diego, California. I am certified to teach at the secondary school level in English and Social Science. Teaching is my passion and I look forward to sharing that passion with an even wider range of students. I have experience with one-on-one tutoring as well. As an undergraduate at Sonoma State University, I worked as a writing tutor at the University's Writing Center, working with students on improving their skills on a great array of writing tasks. I continued to work as a tutor at San Diego State University's Writing Center while I completed my teaching credential program in secondary education.
As a middle school teacher, I work with a wide range of students at many different skill levels. I'm currently using my credential to teach a Social Justice Humanities elective which I enjoy a great deal along with teaching remedial English to English language learners. Teaching reading and writing skills are undoubtedly my strengths.
Four years of teaching experience and 2 1/2 years as a writing tutor have made me more than prepared to take on the task of working as an independent tutor through Wyzant. I am qualified to assist students on developing their skills in reading fictional and informational texts, purposeful writing, grammar, proofreading, developing English language vocabulary, public speaking, etc.
Please feel free to contact me to learn more about what tutoring services I offer and to also schedule a tutoring session. I am happy to meet students at a public library of the student's choosing or potentially at a cafe depending on the student's preference. Looking forward to hearing from you.
