My 35-year career in video production is over 40 when you count college and my fledgling years. Documentary filmmaking is my favorite, but my career has spanned a wide range of jobs in the industry, a wide variety of topics, and it includes experience from film to analog to digital.
My passion for teaching emerged later in life, but I've always garnered tremendous enjoyment from showing people how to do things, explaining processes that help people with their work or life, and seeing the light come on when a person learns a new skill or concept. It's been said that learning is defined as a change in behavior - and that it takes courage. I like to empower people to find that courage and take those chances, because if you're not learning, you're not living.
Though I hold no certifications, I am extremely computer savvy and have helped people learn computer skills and software on both PCs and Macs. It's rare for me to come across a person more proficient at using a computer. I am self-taught in numerous software programs, including Adobe Premiere.
I've been teaching video production at community college since 2007, and I have tutored hundreds of students in videography, editing, lighting, production sound, production management, etc.
In a classroom of 20-30 people, I customize the assignments based on each student's expertise. In a one-on-one setting this level of personalization can be taken to a very high level.
I look forward to helping you experience the gratifying profession of video production.
