I have an extensive background teaching reading and writing from K12 to writing composition at the university level. I am also a published author whose writing has been featured in the New York Times. In addition to that I am an experienced speaker, having honed my skills through Toastmasters International. Currently, I mentor new Toastmasters in public speaking.

My qualifications include a BA degree in English Literature, a teaching certification, and a master's degree in the teaching of reading and language arts. My master's degree endorses me as a reading teacher/literacy consultant who can diagnose and remediate reading disorders such as dyslexia. My training includes both Orton - Gillingham and Susan Barton methods.

I have two grown kids of my own and recently became a grandma. So I understand the challenges faced by parents trying to help their children succeed. My heart goes out to struggling students because I was one.

Please note that I do not offer in-home tutoring, only at a local library or online. Also check with me about my rates because they vary depending on who/what I teach.

Look forward to working with you!

Thorough and prepared tutor

Kiran did a great job assessing our son’s needs and creating a plan for working with him. We are looking forward to seeing his reading skills improve once he works with her a bit more.

Knowledgeable and professional tutor

couldn't be more pleased with the progress my son has made since he started working with his tutor. She is an exceptional teacher who takes the time to understand my son's learning style and tailors her approach to best suit his needs. Not only is she knowledgeable and experienced in her field, but she is also patient, kind, and encouraging. My son looks forward to his tutoring sessions and has gained so much confidence in his abilities thanks to her guidance. She communicates regularly with me to provide updates on his progress and offers valuable feedback on how we can support his learning at home. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a skilled and dedicated tutor. Thank you for the great job you are doing with my son!

great tutor

Mrs. Pd is a great tutor. She is very patient. As I am new to America, I do need help with my grade 8 English reading and writing. I think I am lucky to find Mrs. P to be my tutor. She has a reading plan for me and goes through my work step by step. She leaves me homework every time to strengthen my study. She even lend me some books for reading. She explains how to write essay, which I have no idea at all. I do enjoy the time with Mrs. P. I highly recommend her to everybody.
