About Roger

Bio

Foreign languages are my passion and I share it with my students. I am a French and Arabic native as I grew up learning both languages simultaneously. I graduated with a master's degree in Science from "Ecole Centrale des Arts et Metiers" in Brussels. Having lived and worked in several European countries, I was also exposed to German and Greek.

I grew up in Lebanon where Arabic was my native language. I learned it through high school, before joining a French University. I am presently teaching Arabic successfully to beginners, using Al Kitaab program with "Alif Baa" Introduction to Arabic Letters and Sounds, from Georgetown University Press. It also incorporates an interactive internet version, thus enabling the teacher to communicate with his students, transmit exercises and correct them.

As stated in my profile, I have a passion for languages. I am certified in English, Grammar and writing. I can help beginners as well as intermediates and students with vocabulary, conversation, writing, grammar, homework,,business terminology, etc The key is to create interest in the student's mind and convey the language Arts Skills in a fun way, setting the stage for a lifetime of learning appreciation. I will be delighted to help you in Grammar, from building Simple sentences which have one clause, to Compound and complex sentences, which have two or more clauses. Parts of the sentence will include Adjectives, Adverbs, Articles, Conjunctions, Interjections, Nouns, Prepositions, Pronouns, Proper nouns (subject), and Verb Action. I will teach you grammar through examples, exercises, worksheets, templates, etc. thus enabling you to grasp the right concepts. Let's do it.

Help with Arabic

Roger has been helping my daughter fill in the gaps from an online Arabic course she has taken this year. With the online format, she wasn't getting much feedback on her pronunciation and Roger came in and helped get her on the right track. He has also been able to identify other areas that needed more work and tailor his lessons to exactly what is needed. My daughter is feeling much more comfortable with her course thanks to Roger.

Great experience

Roger has been giving Arabic lessons to my eight year old son for about two months. He is very kind and thoughtful and works well with my son. Amazing tutor!

Roger is truly an amazing tutor. He greets his students with a welcoming, warm smile that sets a nice tone for studying. My twin 11-year-old daughters enjoy their lessons with Roger and say that the time goes by very quickly. This means a lot for parents who have their children taking after school lessons, such as a foreign language, as it generally does not share the same enthusiasm that children have towards after school sports or dance. Dynamic, Kind, and Engaging

Let's be honest, learning a new language is a bit embarrassing. The prospect of having to make new sounds and pronounce foreign words can make anyone anxious, not to mention having to do it in front of a native speaker like Roger! But I decided to try him anyway - and I am so glad that I did. After our first lesson, Roger's genuine passion for teaching along with his great sense of humor alleviated my own insecurities. He made me feel at ease. His gentle manner and patience have since helped me focus on learning and not on my own shortcomings as a novice. That has made all the difference in the world. The material that he uses has been screened and tested by him for years but it's far from generic. He adapts the material to one's individual skill level and time constraints. He also varies his teachings with supplemental texts and activities. I have had a fantastic time with Roger. It's been an honest pleasure. Overall, I just have to commend him for creating such a trusting environment where I am free to take risks in my own learning. So if you're looking for someone who truly invests in YOU and your learning, someone who is dynamic, kind, and engaging - look no further. My biggest mistake was not finding Roger sooner!
