About Marion

Bio

I love learning foreign languages and I want to transmit that love to you! Oral language is unique to human beings. I think it's fascinating how languages have developed over time and the differences between them from the alphabets they use to the grammar they've developed and their vocabulary and expressions.

I believe in using as much of the target language as possible when teaching. There's no sense me talking to you in English if I can say it/explain it in the language you want to...

I love learning foreign languages and I want to transmit that love to you! Oral language is unique to human beings. I think it's fascinating how languages have developed over time and the differences between them from the alphabets they use to the grammar they've developed and their vocabulary and expressions.

I believe in using as much of the target language as possible when teaching. There's no sense me talking to you in English if I can say it/explain it in the language you want to learn. That's not to say I won't speak English as necessary but don't underestimate yourself and your ability to learn a language without using a lot of English.

I also have an excellent background in grammar so for English-speaking individuals who need help with writing/composition, I can be a great resource.

I work best with students of junior high/middle school age and up through adult.

We will have fun together! I will use aural, visual and kinesthetic techniques while teaching/tutoring you so that we find out what combination of learning modalities best suit you.

P.S. I am currently only available to students who would like help prior to an exam or for other special projects as opposed to regular ongoing meetings. I am also tutoring virtually at this time.

  • Rate details: My rate is $40 an hour, $55.00 for a one-and-a-half-hour lesson, or $70.00 for a two-hour lesson. For 2-3 students, the rate is $30 an hour for each student.

During my undergraduate career, I spent my junior year in Paris, my dream come true! I also have a secondary teaching credential in French. I subsequently spent another summer in Caen in Normandy in an intensive French program for teachers. After I returned to the U.S., I taught French for 6 years in a college-prep high school, I've taught French for Berlitz in the U.S. and France, for Converse International School, Language Door, and I have substitute taught French at a community college. I speak French every day since my "significant other" is French.

Great Tutor!!

Marion is great with my son who is a freshman in high school. He has been struggling and she really helped to get him catch up. She has a lot of patience and she makes it fun for him to learn french. I highly recommend her.

Excellent language tutor

I was falling behind and struggling with the material in my French 101 class so I went to Marion to see if she could help catch me up to speed. She knows the French language very well and helps break the material down in a way I am able to understand easily. I have noticed a big improvement in my French speaking capabilities and now I am doing much better in my class. If you are looking for a good language tutor I would definitely recommend Marion.
