Despite loving code, life circumstances made it so that studying history was a better option for me than computer science. During grad school, I got a job as a substitute teacher, where I earned the reputation as the "cool sub" that got called into trouble classrooms. My chill, no-nonsense demeanor had a calming effect on troubled classes.
In 2018, I got my Master's in history from National University. With grad school complete, I wanted a fun but productive hobby to keep my mind active, and I started teaching myself Python using online resources. Since then, I've written a lot of code! And it's still fun, engaging, and rewarding every time I solve a new problem or fix an old bug.
In 2019, I started being a history professor part time, where I got a chance to apply the same skills I used as a substitute teacher. But this was only part time, and I have always wanted to work in software. In 2021, I got a job in tech support at a software company and kept my eyes open for an opportunity to put my Python skills to use.
I soon found my niche by writing an in-house data conversion suite that we use to onboard new customers. This allowed me to add "Data Analyst" to my title, and the tools I learned (pandas, numpy, SQL) gave me a passion for data that I definitely couldn't have predicted even a year before.
In 2025, I wanted to formalize that knowledge and returned to school to get my Master's in Data Science. Because I knew Python and had done some work with leading data analysis tools, I was able to excel and graduate in 10 months with a 3.86 GPA.
I am confident that I can use my proven skill as a teacher, professor, and data analyst (as well as someone who has taught themselves Python) to help you get a better understanding of Python programming, Object Oriented Programming, SQL, Data Analysis, and many other related topics!
