I hold an MBA with a concentration in Finance from San Diego State University's Fowler College of Business (AACSB-accredited), along with an Advanced Certificate in Investment and a B.S. in Business Management with an entrepreneurship specialization. My graduate coursework covered managerial accounting, financial risk management, security analysis and portfolio management, and international business finance, so I can tutor across the full range of undergraduate and graduate business topics: financial accounting, managerial accounting, corporate finance, statistics, Excel-based modeling, and investment fundamentals like CAPM, duration, and portfolio theory.
I design and teach a financial literacy curriculum for a county youth educational program, where I cover budgeting, loan amortization, compound interest, and portfolio basics with students in their teens and early twenties, many of whom are learning these concepts for the first time. That experience shaped how I teach: I start with the plainest possible explanation of what a concept means and why it matters before building up to the full technical version, so a student never loses the thread between the intuition and the math. For quantitative subjects, I walk through the setup before touching a calculator, show every step of the work rather than skipping to an answer, and finish with a plain-language explanation of what the result actually means in the real world. I also build driver-based Excel models and financial workbooks as part of my own work, so I can show students how these concepts are actually used, not just how to pass an exam on them.
I'm fully bilingual in English and Spanish and comfortable teaching in either language. Whether you're catching up on an accounting course, preparing for a finance exam, or just trying to make sense of a spreadsheet model for the first time, I focus on building real understanding you can carry into the next course, not just getting through tonight's homework.
