I am currently a first-year nursing student at San Diego State University with a strong background in mathematics and other STEM subjects. I earned a 5 on both AP Calculus AB and BC, a 6 in IB Mathematics AA HL, and a 5 on AP Biology.
I have also taught children through volunteer and community education. I co-founded a student-led STEM organization called BioKits, which developed and taught hands-on science activities to children aged 5-10. I have led demonstrations that explained scientific concepts in simple and understandable ways. Additionally, through an organization called Strike-a-Chord, I taught keyboard and ukulele to children with developmental disabilities. This strengthened by ability to use patience, encouragement, and adapt my teaching style to different needs.
My experience through BioKits and Strike-a-Chord taught me how to work with young children, and my high school education in math gives me a strong foundation to help high school aged students with their classes. As a tutor, I want to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and truly learn to understand material, instead of just memorizing it.
