I recently graduated from San Diego Mesa College with associate degrees in physics and mathematics. My coursework included Calculus I–III, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, General Physics, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Waves, Optics and Modern Physics. My primary tutoring focus is physics, and I am comfortable helping students from introductory through lower-division college physics, as well as with mathematics from the elementary level through college calculus.
From 2022–2026, I worked as a STEM Peer Mentor at San Diego Mesa College, supporting college students in the full physics sequence: General Physics I and II, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Waves, Optics and Modern Physics. Students came to a dedicated peer-mentoring classroom to study, and I worked with them individually and in small groups to answer questions, explain difficult concepts, and help them work through problems. I typically worked with 1–20 students per week and assisted hundreds of students during my four years in the program. For the past two semesters, I have also provided private one-on-one tutoring to college students. I have experience with younger students as well, including teaching robotics to children ages 5–12 in a summer program at my former high school.
My tutoring style is patient, casual, and encouraging. I am especially good at breaking complicated concepts into understandable pieces and finding a different way to explain something when the first approach doesn't click. I try to create an environment where there are no bad questions and students never feel embarrassed about what they don't understand. My goal isn't just to help students get through a problem; I want them to understand the underlying concept, become more confident asking questions, and leave better equipped to tackle the next problem themselves.
