I am a PhD candidate in Psychological and Medical Anthropology at the University of California, San Diego, and I earned my B.S. in Anthropology modified with Biology from Dartmouth College. My training and research focus on qualitative and ethnographic methods, including semi-structured interviewing, research design, qualitative coding, thematic analysis, and the interpretation and presentation of qualitative findings. I am also a published co-author on qualitative research and have contributed to collaborative projects from data collection through analysis and manuscript development.
A central part of my academic experience has been working directly with college students on their writing. At UC San Diego, I have served as a Teaching Assistant in undergraduate courses, where I provided detailed feedback on essays, research papers, and written assignments at multiple stages of the writing process. I have helped students strengthen thesis development, improve clarity and structure, integrate evidence effectively, and revise drafts for coherence and argumentation. I especially enjoy working one-on-one to help students translate complex ideas into clear, well-organized academic writing.
My teaching approach emphasizes helping students understand how to think through methodological and analytical decisions rather than simply providing answers. I particularly enjoy helping students move from a broad research interest to a focused question, develop appropriate qualitative methods, and connect evidence to a clear analytical argument. I also have extensive experience supporting students who feel stuck in the writing process, whether that involves brainstorming, outlining, restructuring, or revising full drafts.
In my own research, I regularly conduct and analyze qualitative interviews and work with qualitative analysis software including Dedoose. My goal is to make qualitative research and academic writing feel structured and manageable while helping students build confidence in their own analytical and writing skills.
