Hi there, my name's Kayli! I have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with Honors from UC Santa Barbara and a Full Stack Software Engineering certificate from Hack Reactor where I was a scholarship recipient. My engineering background gives me a strong foundation in both math and coding and my three years of professional experience as a software engineer means these skills are something I use and sharpen every single day in the real world.

For coding I'm most comfortable tutoring Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and SQL, as well as web development concepts like React and Next.js and backend fundamentals like APIs and databases. For math I can help with anything up through the level required for an engineering degree including algebra, calculus, and statistics. I'm particularly good at explaining the why behind concepts rather than just the how which I've found makes things click a lot faster.

Throughout my career I've naturally taken on a teaching role, mentoring junior engineers one on one, onboarding new teammates by walking them through complex systems, and regularly helping people in my life understand coding and math concepts. I'm patient, I meet people where they are, and I genuinely love that moment when something finally clicks for someone. Breaking complicated things down into steps that actually make sense is something I do professionally every day and it translates really well into tutoring.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 was a foundational part of my path to an Electrical Engineering degree at UC Santa Barbara and as a working software engineer I use algebraic thinking every single day in my professional work. I'm comfortable teaching things like solving equations, graphing linear functions, working with inequalities, and understanding variables and expressions in a way that actually makes sense rather than just memorizing steps. A big part of being a software engineer is breaking down complex problems into logical steps and I bring that same approach to tutoring, meeting students where they are and finding the explanation that actually clicks for them.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

My foundation in math runs deep, I studied through advanced calculus, linear algebra, and statistics as part of my Electrical Engineering degree at UC Santa Barbara and math was the backbone of everything I did academically. Elementary math is something I can teach with a lot of confidence because I understand not just the concepts but why they work the way they do, which makes it way easier to explain to a younger student who's seeing it for the first time. I've helped friends and family members work through math problems over the years and I genuinely enjoy finding the right way to explain something until it sticks.
Python

Python

I've used Python professionally for the past three years as a software engineer building and maintaining production backend systems. At Glacier I wrote Python daily across Flask and Django APIs, data pipeline logic, infrastructure scripting, and test suites using Pytest. I'm comfortable teaching Python at any level from absolute beginner syntax and fundamentals all the way through more advanced topics like object oriented design, working with APIs, database integration, and writing clean production quality code. I'm good at meeting students where they are and explaining things in a way that actually makes sense rather than just throwing documentation at them.
