Hi, I’m Christina! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Computer Science with a focus in AI. I’m passionate about helping students find their footing in programming and AI. Computing can feel overwhelming when foundational gaps make later topics much harder to understand, and my goal is to help students work through these gaps so they can approach problems with greater confidence.

I have 1.5 years of experience as an undergraduate teaching assistant for an introductory Computer Science course and was one of two undergraduate recipients of my university’s 2024-25 Department of Computer Science Teaching Award. In addition to teaching in a classroom, I worked one-on-one with students to answer conceptual questions, work through problems, prepare for exams, and debug programming assignments. My approach is to first understand what a student is struggling with rather than simply giving them an answer. I like to break problems down to identify the source of confusion and connect new ideas to familiar concepts. Depending on the topic, I use visual explanations, analogies, and code examples to help students understand the “why” behind a concept, and then connect it to “how” to implement it in code. I want students to leave not only knowing how to solve a particular problem, but also feeling more prepared to tackle the next one independently.

My areas of specialization are foundational Computer Science and programming (Java, Object-Oriented Programming, and Data Structures) and Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning and Deep Learning). Through my graduate program, I have hands-on experience implementing and training AI models from scratch with PyTorch. I am happy to work with students on core CS and AI concepts, programming and machine learning projects, or exam preparation. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a session--I’d be happy to learn more about what you’re working on and how I can help!

Approved Subjects

Computer Programming

Computer Programming

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park with a BS in Computer Science and am currently pursuing an MS in Computer Science at UC San Diego. I have experience across various programming paradigms, including object-oriented programming in Java, Python, and Golang; functional programming in OCaml; and verification-aware programming in Dafny. Through coursework and projects, I have programmed in data science and machine learning applications with Python and libraries including PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-Learn. My industry experience includes UI and frontend development with HTML/CSS/Razor and backend feature development in Golang, and I have taught introductory Java programming as an undergraduate teaching assistant.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2025 with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics, and I am currently pursuing an MS in Computer Science at UC San Diego. My academic background spans core computer science, from theory (data structures, algorithms, programming languages) to systems (computer architecture) to applications (web and mobile development, AI, machine learning), with graduate coursework covering deep learning, NLP, and AI engineering. I also have industry experience through software engineering internships involving UI and frontend development, backend feature development, and software testing. I have also applied these foundations to projects in ML, full-stack development, robotics, and human-AI interaction.
Data Structures

Data Structures

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park with a BS in Computer Science and am currently pursuing an MS in Computer Science at UC San Diego. I have 1.5 years of experience teaching introductory data structures as an undergraduate teaching assistant, helping students understand both the underlying concepts and their implementation in Java. My advanced coursework has covered self-balancing trees, hashing, spatial data structures, and algorithms for searching and manipulating data. I can help beginner and intermediate students with data structure concepts, implementation and analysis, programming assignments, problem solving, and exam preparation.
Java

Java

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2025 with a BS in Computer Science and have 1.5 years of experience as an undergraduate teaching assistant for an introductory object-oriented programming course taught in Java. I led discussion sections and office hours covering Java paradigms, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and software development, while also helping students debug and improve their programming projects. My experience includes teaching students how to translate core programming concepts and design principles into working Java implementations. I am happy to help beginner and intermediate students with Java programming, OOP concepts, programming assignments, and exam preparation.
Machine Learning/ AI

Machine Learning/ AI

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2025 with a BS in Computer Science and am currently pursuing an MS in Computer Science at UC San Diego with a focus in AI. My graduate coursework spans probabilistic reasoning, computer vision, NLP, deep learning, unsupervised learning, and AI engineering, building on undergraduate coursework in artificial intelligence and machine learning. My projects include developing a hierarchical HMM for music prediction, building and training a GPT-style language model from scratch in PyTorch, and developing and optimizing RAG and supervised fine-tuning pipelines using RapidFire AI. I have also explored human-centered AI through a case study on speech recognition for low-resource dialects, considering how technical decisions and model behavior interact with real-world users and risks.
