Grad Student and Creative, Experienced Tutor for K-6th Students

Hello! My name is Sophie. I have worked as an enthusiastic and experienced tutor for elementary-middle school age students for close to 10 years! I attended Vanderbilt University and originally majored in Elementary Education, gaining many student teaching hours for students of all ages across all core subjects. I have been tutoring since I began high school, with a specific focus on literacy and English language learning support for elementary-age students. I am incredibly passionate about improving students’ confidence in reading and writing as it opens doors for them in every other subject!

I graduated Vanderbilt with my degree in Child Development and Psychology as I transitioned later to a career supporting children’s mental health. I am starting graduate school this fall to begin a PhD program in Clinical Psychology with a Child focus. However, connecting one-on-one with children in a teaching and learning environment still has my heart. My background in child psychology allows me to bring an additional sensitivity and empathy to sessions, creating a uniquely encouraging learning environment.

I am incredibly excited to work with your child to grow their confidence in any subject they currently need support. I strive to teach and mentor students in an individualized manner, understanding their learning style and taking note of their passions so each session is uniquely tailored for their success!

I have also worked with students with a range of unique needs (ADHD, autism, anxiety) and have the skills to support their unique learning styles as well.
