I hold a BS in Ecology, Behaviour, and Evolution and an MS in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where I graduated magna cum laude and maintained a 4.0 GPA in my master’s program. I will also be beginning a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona. My academic background spans a wide range of biological disciplines, including cellular and molecular biology, physiology, ecology, genetics, and evolution, as well as chemistry, physics, mathematics, and statistics. I also have advanced training in animal behavior, conservation biology, marine science, and quantitative skills, including statistical modeling in R and spatial analysis using GIS. Many of these areas overlap with pre-med coursework, and I am confident in supporting students in those tracks.
During my graduate training, I worked as a Teaching Assistant at UCLA, where I taught courses including marine science, animal behavior, evolution, herpetology, vertebrate morphology, and evolutionary medicine. I have experience leading discussions, helping students work through complex concepts, and supporting both lecture and laboratory material. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down difficult topics into clear, manageable steps and reinforcing understanding through guided practice. I have worked with students in classroom and one-on-one settings and am comfortable adapting to different learning styles and levels of preparation.
In addition to tutoring biology and chemistry at the high school and college level, I also offer support in basic and intermediate Spanish, drawing on several years of formal study. As an active researcher, I can also help students develop research skills, from understanding scientific literature to designing studies and interpreting data. I aim to create a supportive, structured learning environment tailored to each student’s goals, helping them build both confidence and long-term mastery.
