Hi! My name is Claire, and I recently earned my Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the UC San Diego, where I specialized in molecular biology and microbiology research. Previously, I graduated summa cum laude from UC Davis and received the College Medal along with a degree in Disease Biology and minors in Public Health and Medical Entomology. Throughout college and graduate school, teaching and mentorship became the most rewarding parts of my career, and I love sharing my passion for education and helping students build confidence.
I have been tutoring since sixth grade, beginning by helping elementary-aged students in math and science, and over time expanding into formal tutoring and teaching roles. I have worked with middle school, high school, and college students across a wide range of subjects including biology, chemistry, algebra, essay writing, interview prep, and college application prep. During my time at UC Davis, I worked as a Content Review Leader and Tutor, where I designed and led large-group review sessions and provided individualized tutoring support for students in chemistry and biology. At UC San Diego, I served as both a Teaching Assistant and Instructor of Record for undergraduate cell biology courses, independently designing evidence-based lessons and content.
My tutoring style focuses on making students feel comfortable making mistakes and building a strong understanding of concepts rather than memorization alone. I adapt sessions to each student's needs, goals, and learning style. Whether a student needs help catching up in class, preparing for college applications or exams, or gaining confidence in STEM subjects, I strive to make learning approachable and engaging. In addition to tutoring, I have extensive mentorship experience, equipping me with skills in reaching diverse students while fostering confidence and independence. I love helping students succeed both academically and personally, and I aim to create a positive environment where students feel supported and motivated to learn
