Two years ago, I had the honor of receiving a bachelor's in neuroscience from UCLA after graduating with a 3.919 GPA. I have since then applied my knowledge in biology, chemistry, and mathematics to my experiences in the laboratory as a research technician. While in college and as a postgrad, I also worked as a tutor for several organizations. I am delighted to continue my tutoring experience on Wyzant and tutor individuals seeking assistance in biology courses at the collegiate or high school level. I would also be glad to tutor high school students in general biology, SAT/ACT prep, algebra I/II, pre-calculus, and writing. Finally, I am available to tutor younger elementary students in grammar and reading comprehension!
Regarding previous teaching experiences, I tutored students at John F Kennedy High School in Los Angeles in preparation for SAT/ACT exams through the UCLA Bruin Partners organization. Since graduating, I have also tutored for Manhattan College in New York City through the StreetSquash tutoring organization. Through StreetSquash organization resources and personal one-to-one tutoring, I was able to assist my student in her general biology coursework and help her improve her grades in Mendelian Genetics and Cellular Replication. Finally, I also have approximately 4 years of continued experience working with Reading Partners. Through Reading Partners, I have served as an English tutor and worked towards improving reading comprehension and writing abilities in 1st to 3rd grade children at Para Los Ninos Elementary.
I count myself as an empathetic, patient, and dedicated tutor who will strive to make topics in mathematics and science digestible and memorable for students progressing in their academic career. I am also one to recognize the importance of being able to articulate thoughts well on paper, and I am confident that I can assist students in becoming strong writers in preparation for their courses. I look forward to hearing from you regarding any tutoring inquiries!
