Hi! My name is Vanessa and I currently hold a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Davis; with completed advanced coursework in pre-algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and college-level reading and writing.
I have much tutoring experience working with children ages 4–16, including in-home tutoring for children with autism as a behavioral technician. Settings I've worked in include in-person one-on-one sessions at schools, online, as well as company-run learning centers.
I specialize in elementary through college-level math and reading/writing and typically like to begin each session with a brief skills assessment to identify strengths and areas for growth. I then create customized lesson plans that blend direct instruction, guided practice, and real-world applications. My approach emphasizes patience, positive reinforcement, and interactive problem-solving to keep students engaged and motivated, helping students strengthen core skills and build confidence across a wide academic range.
Over the course of my experience, I have helped students gain confidence, better understand their curriculum, and develop critical thinking skills. I also bring a bubbly personality and excellent communication, which help students feel comfortable enough to open up and enjoy the learning process.
I would love the opportunity to learn more about what your child needs and the keys we can use to help them achieve success!
