Hello! I'm Dr. Heather, a passionate educator and therapist dedicated to fostering academic and personal growth in children and adolescents through tailored tutoring and coaching. Since 2019, I’ve worked as an Academic Tutor and Specialist Coach in San Diego, providing in-home and online support for K-12 students with ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. My focus is on strengthening executive functioning skills—such as organization, time management, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy—to help students excel in their studies. I design engaging activities to boost communication and social skills, ensuring a personalized approach that meets each student’s unique needs.

My educational background and teaching experience fuel my commitment to student success. I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University in 2018, where I received the Dean’s Award of Excellence, and hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Millersville University. I’ve taught honors psychology at a high school, preparing students for Advanced Placement exams while accommodating diverse learning needs. My earlier roles as a school counselor and tutor allowed me to support students with complex challenges, including those with IEPs, by fostering academic skills and confidence. With a blend of clinical expertise and a heart for education, I’m driven to help students unlock their full academic and emotional potential.

ADHD

ADHD

As a Doctor of Psychology with years of hands-on support at The Winston School and Club Xcite, I've specialized in supporting K-12 students with ADHD by breaking down complex subjects into manageable, engaging sessions that build sustained attention and confidence. Drawing from my clinical background in behavioral interventions, I incorporate strategies like timed breaks and visual aids to help them master everything from math to reading without frustration. My approach has led to measurable gains in grades and self-esteem, as parents often share how their child's newfound focus transforms daily homework battles into triumphs.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

With my PsyD and extensive experience coaching, counseling, and tutoring ASD students, I create customized tutoring plans that leverage their unique strengths, turning potential challenges into academic victories across all subjects. I use play-based and visual techniques from my clinical training to foster social skills alongside core academics, ensuring sessions feel fun and low-pressure for lasting engagement.
Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice

With my BA in Psychology and Criminology minor, plus hands-on internships at San Diego's Juvenile Forensic Services and Family Justice Center, I've worked with teenagers and families facing challenges in the legal system. These experiences equipped me to guide students through behavioral theories and justice processes using interactive scenarios that mirror actual interventions. My approach not only elevates comprehension and grades but also fosters empathy and career interest, with students often inspired to pursue paths in law enforcement or advocacy.
