Hi, I’m Soham! I am a third-year Human Biology major at UCSD, where I have tutored for human physiology. I received As and A+ in my upper-division biology coursework including Human Physiology, Genetics and Metabolic Biochemistry.
Currently, I work at a genomics laboratory where I have gained experience in various laboratory techniques like DNA extraction, purification, gel electrophoresis and DNA barcoding that are often tested in high school and college coursework. I find the work that I do every day in molecular biology and genetics very rewarding, and I am passionate about working with my students to help them enjoy it just as much as I do.
I have previously worked as a tutor at Bioconnect—a student organization partnered with professors from the School of Biological Sciences to provide supplemental instruction for upper-division biology courses. I held weekly office hours and review sessions for midterms and finals.
In addition to my role as a genomics lab member, I work in clinical research at the UCSD Jacobs Medical Center. If you are in high school and considering medicine as a career, I am also happy to share my experience as a pre-med student and how I have navigated extracurriculars and clinical exposure!
