Hello and thank you for considering me as your tutor! I have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and over four years of experience helping students succeed in math, physics, chemistry, and mechanical engineering topics. Whether you're in high school or college—or returning to academics later in life—I've worked with learners across a wide age range, including those with ADHD and other learning differences. I started with one-on-one tutoring and expanded into small group sessions, both in person and online. Along the way, I’ve also earned several MATLAB certifications and used the platform extensively throughout my academic and research work.

When we work together, I focus on building your understanding of the subject rather than just helping you memorize formulas. I take the time to explain the "why" behind the methods, break complex problems into manageable steps, and tailor examples to fit your interests. I have a library of custom practice problems and real-world applications to help reinforce what we cover. My goal is not just to get you through a course or test, but to help you feel confident and capable in the subject so that you can tackle future challenges with independence.

Every student has unique goals, and I take the time to understand yours. Whether you’re aiming to raise a grade, master a tough concept, or prepare for an upcoming exam, I’ll build a plan around your learning style and schedule. We’ll check in regularly to measure your progress and adjust as needed. My tutoring style is flexible, supportive, and always centered around helping you succeed in the way that works best for you.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have over five years of experience supporting students on the autism spectrum, helping them build academic skills and confidence in a one-on-one setting. I have developed individualized learning plans tailored to each student’s strengths, interests, and sensory needs. I have integrated structured routines, using clear communication, and multi-sensory teaching strategies to create positive and predictable learning outcomes. My approach focuses on both academic progress and fostering self-advocacy skills to help students thrive in and out of the classroom. I provide patient and detailed support to build confidence throughout the students academic journey.
Fortran

Fortran

I have being writing FORTRAN code to solve engineering problems for over years. I have used FORTRAN to solve thermal and mechanical engineering problems. I am able to trouble shoot existing code as well as write new code from scratch. I can write code to solve both theoretical as well as real world applications.
Machine Learning/ AI

Machine Learning/ AI

I have over a decade of experience as a mechanical engineer applying advanced computational methods to solve complex real-world problems. My work has increasingly focused on machine learning and artificial intelligence, where I have developed predictive models, optimization tools, and data-driven simulations for engineering and energy applications. I am highly skilled in Python, MATLAB, and simulation software, integrating AI techniques with mechanical systems to enhance efficiency and performance. With this background, I bring both deep technical expertise and practical industry insight to help students master machine learning and AI concepts.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I have over five years of experience using MATLAB for engineering coursework, simulations, and graduate research. I’ve completed certifications in MATLAB fundamentals, Simulink, Simscape, optimization, symbolic math, and various simulation tools including power systems and control design. My academic and research projects have involved solving differential equations, modeling thermal systems, and developing custom scripts for data analysis and visualization. I help students build fluency in MATLAB from the ground up and guide them through practical applications in engineering, ensuring they understand both the logic and structure behind their code.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and over four years of experience tutoring core engineering subjects, including statics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical systems. I work with students, guiding them through problem-solving strategies, derivations, and conceptual frameworks essential to engineering coursework. My approach emphasizes visual understanding, step-by-step breakdowns, and application of theory to real-world problems. I also provide tailored practice sets and support students in preparing for exams, labs, and design projects.
Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

I completed two semesters of undergraduate thermodynamics, one semester of heat transfer, and conducted two semesters of graduate-level research focused on thermal energy storage systems. My tutoring experience includes helping engineering students understand key thermodynamic principles such as the laws of thermodynamics, cycles, energy balances, and entropy. I emphasize real-world application and intuitive problem-solving, using diagrams and methodical breakdowns to clarify complex concepts. My background in both coursework and research allows me to connect theory with practical engineering challenges, especially in energy systems. I have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Very helpful

David helped me with Physics as someone who had no background knowledge. He was very helpful and patient and took the time to explain everything in a way I could understand and remember!

Super smart, efficient, and helpful tutor!

David helped me efficiently formulate code for a task assigned to me. He was super smart, efficient, and knowledgable. Even when we ran out of time, he finished the code for me! Super super helpful.

Ashley, 2 lessons with David

Knowledgeable professor

David helped me with my management science course - my classes are 4 weeks and extremely fast-paced but he was able to help me break the problems down and get through them. Thank you!! Will continue to use his as a tutor
