I hold a Master of Science in Marine Biology from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and a minor in General Biology from the same institution. My academic background is grounded in a strong foundation in biology, biochemistry, ecology, physiology, genetics, and environmental science, and I’ve participated in both field and lab-based research with NOAA, UCSD, and academic partners. This experience enables me to confidently teach biology-related topics across various educational levels, from foundational life sciences to more specialized areas, such as marine ecosystems and conservation biology.

In addition to my academic training, I have teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant at UCSD, where I led undergraduate discussion sections, created review materials, quizzes, and graded exams, and guided students through complex biological concepts. My approach is adaptive and inquiry-based; I believe in helping students build confidence by connecting scientific content to real-world examples and encouraging active participation. Whether in one-on-one settings or small groups, I strive to meet each learner where they are and adjust my teaching style accordingly. I enjoy regularly checking in with students and adapting my teaching to their learning methods and needs.

I have worked with students ranging in age from high school to adult learners, and I’m passionate about making science accessible and engaging. My tutoring is centered on building critical thinking skills, developing effective study strategies, and fostering long-term understanding, rather than relying on rote memorization. I’m enthusiastic about continuing to share my knowledge and support learners on their academic journeys.
