I’m a composer, violinist, and educator with a Ph.D. in Music Composition from UC San Diego. I’ve taught music composition, theory, and solfege to students ranging from elementary age to college level, both one-on-one and in classroom settings. I’ve also worked with students from multilingual and neurodiverse backgrounds, and founded a free online academy that teaches contemporary music to Persian-speaking students around the world.

My teaching is centered on listening, creativity, and building confidence. I help students break down complex ideas and find their personal voice in music. I teach solfege and aural skills using traditional tools such as a keyboard and metronome or using creative methods like drawing. In my violin instructions, I prioritize movement-based techniques, drawing from Body Mapping and Hugo Seling’s Wie Und Warum to set a healthy and flexible coordination and musicality. My composition students' works have been performed across the world.

I care deeply about making music education accessible and meaningful. Whether you’re just getting started with violin, trying to write your first piece, or want to really understand what you’re hearing, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward.

Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

I hold a Ph.D. in Music Composition from UC San Diego and have over a decade of experience teaching composition to students of all levels. I specialize in both classical and contemporary techniques, including chamber and orchestral writing, electroacoustic music, text scores, extended notation, as well as music for film and theater. I’ve taught at the university level, designed inclusive online courses through my nonprofit academy, MOAASER, and mentored students whose works have been performed internationally. My teaching emphasizes analytical listening, critical thinking, and meditation, all grounded in a strong foundation of music theory.
Ear Training

Ear Training

I have over ten years of experience teaching ear training to students ranging from elementary school to university level. My approach emphasizes focused listening, interval recognition, rhythm accuracy, tonal awareness, and music dictation, using both traditional solfege and creative, gamified exercises. I’ve taught ear training within college-level theory courses and in one-on-one lessons. Each session is tailored to the student’s level, background, and goals—whether they're preparing for auditions, improving sight-singing, or strengthening their inner ear as composers or performers.
General Music

General Music

I have over a decade of experience teaching general music to students of all ages, from elementary school through college. My teaching combines music theory, ear training, history, and performance in ways that are accessible, engaging, and personalized. I’ve taught in classrooms, youth symphonies, and online settings, adapting each lesson to the student’s background and goals—whether that means learning to read music, understanding musical forms, or developing creativity through sound exploration. I believe every student can connect with music in a meaningful way, and I help them do so with patience and clarity.
Music History

Music History

I have taught music history at the university level, including courses on Classical, Romantic, and Modern music, with an emphasis on cultural, political, and interdisciplinary contexts. My approach moves beyond memorization, encouraging students to think critically, ask questions, and make connections between music and society. I design inclusive, discussion-based lessons that accommodate different learning styles and backgrounds, including multilingual and first-generation students. Whether students are preparing for exams, writing papers, or simply hoping to better understand music's historical development, I help them build both confidence and curiosity.
