I’m a composer, violinist, and educator with a Ph.D. in Music Composition from UC San Diego. I’ve taught music composition, theory, and solfege to students ranging from elementary age to college level, both one-on-one and in classroom settings. I’ve also worked with students from multilingual and neurodiverse backgrounds, and founded a free online academy that teaches contemporary music to Persian-speaking students around the world.
My teaching is centered on listening, creativity, and building confidence. I help students break down complex ideas and find their personal voice in music. I teach solfege and aural skills using traditional tools such as a keyboard and metronome or using creative methods like drawing. In my violin instructions, I prioritize movement-based techniques, drawing from Body Mapping and Hugo Seling’s Wie Und Warum to set a healthy and flexible coordination and musicality. My composition students' works have been performed across the world.
I care deeply about making music education accessible and meaningful. Whether you’re just getting started with violin, trying to write your first piece, or want to really understand what you’re hearing, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward.
