Hi! I’m a USC graduate with a B.A. in Philosophy, a minor in Physics, and a 3.7 GPA. I tutor mathematics through Calculus III, introductory college physics, and academic writing for middle-school, high-school, and college students.

I have worked with students one-on-one and in small groups since high school. Most recently, I tutored more than 20 students ages 11–16 through Teach for LA. My background in both physics and philosophy allows me to help students with technical problem-solving as well as writing, argumentation, and clear communication.

In math and physics, I can help with algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, Calculus I–III, introductory mechanics, electricity and magnetism, relativity, and introductory quantum mechanics. I focus on helping students understand why a method works, rather than simply memorizing steps. We identify where the confusion begins, approach the idea from a new angle, and then practice applying it independently.

In writing, I help students develop focused thesis statements, organize essays, strengthen arguments, use evidence effectively, and revise for clarity. My experience includes journalism, academic philosophy, science writing, and editing more than 70 articles per term as editor-in-chief of a student science publication.

Lots of students think they are simply “not math people” or “not good writers.” I don’t believe those labels are useful. Most students just need to cross a few mental barriers in order to understand the topic much better. My goal is to help students recognize what they already understand, build from it, and become more confident working independently.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether that means reviewing a difficult concept, completing a problem set, preparing for an exam, or revising an essay. I respond quickly and offer flexible scheduling. When you contact me, please include the student’s course, current topic, and what they would like to accomplish so I can prepare an effective first lesson.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I have taken calculus courses up to multivariable and extended further into partial differential equations. All of undergraduate physics requires calculus, so I am well-equipped to explain these problem-solving techniques especially as they pertain to examples given for homework and exams.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I helped during a writer's workshop 2 days a week after school in high school for our honors writing programs. I also served as my high school newspaper editor-in-chief and as the editor-in-chief of a college publication. Most of philosophy is dense, academic writing, which I am experienced in, but I am experienced in creative and concise prose as well.
Physics

Physics

I received an A in intro and advanced mechanics and electricity and magnetism, and am currently taking introduction quantum mechanics. AP physics C courses are slightly under the level of a collegiate intro class, so I am well-equipped to break down problem-solving techniques.
