With over 30 years of experience as a credentialed teacher in general and special education, I’ve dedicated my career to teaching hundreds of children with reading and writing challenges, including those with dyslexia. As an intervention specialist, I have worked with students in K-8 school settings and in private tutoring, providing one-on-one support tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fordham University, a master’s in education from Seton Hall University, and a master’s in special education from UCSD in San Diego.

I specialize in the Wilson Reading System, a structured literacy program based on Orton-Gillingham principles, designed to support students with reading challenges, including dyslexia, phonics difficulties, and decoding struggles. This research-based program builds foundational skills in word recognition, fluency, and comprehension. Great teacher and engaging class!

We started tutoring with Ms. Allison offline. After getting used to the routine, we added online sessions as well. Ms. Allison has done a great job keeping both sessions engaging, using lots of tools and games for a 5.5 year old boy. My son loves her classes, and I’ve seen great improvement in his phonics.
