Just out of Cornell, I started my career teaching third grade with Teach For America. To date, it’s the most rewarding experience I’ve ever had—I guided my students to advance an average of three grade levels in a single year and was recognized as Diane Sawyer’s “Person-of-The-Week” on ABC Nightly News.
I eventually pursued other career and educational interests outside the classroom, including multiple years working on Teach For America’s staff, earning my MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern, and significant time in the private sector before starting my own professional coaching business in 2021. In each of these roles, I found a way to make teaching central to my work. It’s the activity I’ve always enjoyed most and found most rewarding. I’ve also maintained my teaching certification in Texas and recently transferred that to a provisional certification to teach in California.
As a business owner today, I’ve found that I enjoy integrating multiple types of work to supplement my primary role as a professional coach and am excited to get back into teaching as a tutor. I’m a bit of a philomath with wide-ranging interests and expertise and welcome the opportunity to teach all grade levels EC-8 and specific subjects across high school, college, and adult education. I especially love working with individuals with ADHD, not only to help them learn in ways adapted to our unique brains but to support them in developing the habits, skills, and mindsets I’ve learned over my life and career.
In addition to my undergraduate degree from Cornell and graduate degree from Northwestern, I earned graduate credit at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas toward my teaching certification and am currently working toward earning an Associate Coach Credential with the International Federation of Coaches. I’m originally from Glen Cove, NY, and currently live in San Diego, California with my amazing pup, Kylie.
