Hi there, I am Kristina. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from UCLA. In college, I realized I loved science so much that I found my passion for research. I followed my passion to graduate school where I earned my PhD in Molecular Biology from Princeton University. I love investigating the molecular mechanisms that govern our daily lives. I am currently a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, San Diego where my research focuses on understanding stress response pathways at the protein level.
I have completed a 30-hour course, where I obtained a certificate for College Teaching. In this course, learned how to incorporate evidence-based technique practices to support student learning. I am currently completing another certificate for Scientific Teaching, where I am learning how to develop and implement student-centered teaching strategies for undergraduate STEM courses.
In graduate school, I was an Assistant in Instruction for undergraduate-level Introduction to Biochemistry course and for an undergraduate-level Introduction to Cellular and Molecular Biology Lab course. In both teaching experiences, I avoided lecturing my students and instead guided the students to understanding the material. I encourage peer-peer discussions and active learning practices.
