Hello Students:

For the past twenty-five years, I have worked in higher education as a faculty member. I have taught in the brick and mortar classroom as well as online with traditional and non-traditional students. As a faculty member, I have graded a lot of academic essays.

As a part of grading, I often proofread, edit and give direction as related to essay writing. One method that I use for tutoring would be for a student to provide short-term writing goals such as an outline to get their paper(s) on the right track. Breaking an essay down into short-term goals such as a paragraph, helps one get the long-range goal(s) in place.

Another method that I use would be to make analogies to understand the writing process. Students often like pop culture, so I can compare the introduction, body and conclusion of a paper to a film to help students understand how this framework relates. For example, I can ask, "What three themes do you see in and name a film" to help with the body of an essay.

In 2014, I received a Distinguished Faculty of the Year award. I have also been granted several service awards from one college. Thus, I am committed to the educational process.

As for my grades, I graduated with High Distinction with my doctorate and Educational Specialist degree. For my Masters, I also came in summa cum laude. In my early days, I did not really completely get the writing process so I am a testament to excellent direction and development.

Prior to higher education, I worked in radio/TV as producer/writer/host of my own show. I have a lot of experience in all kinds of writing to include college essays, radio/tv shows, poetry, and currently, I write a blog. Thank you.

More specifically, I can assist you with college entrance essays and career advice. Previously, I have taught career and life management, hence, I can give you a well-rounded view on how to proceed toward your goals. For example, recently, I spoke with a student as related to her next steps and suggested the possibility of paid internships. Wonderfully patient, communicative, instructive

I hired Eileen to help my daughter navigate the convoluted mess that is the accumulation of mixed university/community college/multi-state credit transfer system. In attempting to acquire the requisite credits to transfer to an accredited university and achieve a degree, my daughter had found herself frustrated by the inconsistent and incorect information she had been given by her Community College counselors. My daughter had been running up against a brick wall while working with her local community college advisors, to the point that she was ready to throw in the towel completely on her education. After working with Eileen, she is re-energized, and fully prepared to take her notes from the session and her transcripts and go back to the advisors with a structured plan to finish her degree. As she discovered during her session, she is only a single credit short of a degree, despite being told she was qualified and completed the correct classes. This was the single greatest counseling session my daughter has ever experienced, and there have been many of them over the last couple of years. Eileen is a skilled counselor, and I am truly grateful that we were able to connect with her to literally salvage my daughter's education. I would highly recommend Eileen to any student or parent that finds themselves in the same desperate situation in which we found ourselves. It is apparent that Eileen has a significant skillset beyond the narrow scope that was required for our particular case, but in a short 2-hours session she was able to completely change my daughter's outlook on her education, and for this we shall be eternally grateful.
