My loyal clients have described me as patient, kind, prepared, and punctual. They appreciate my thorough, clear explanations as I break down difficult concepts. My teaching style is personalized for each student since we all process knowledge differently so I'm flexible in trying different methods until they're confident in the material. I'm always positive and gentle in my approach in hopes of taking the stress out of school and making learning fun again. I believe students should be guided, not just told what to do, so my teaching includes asking questions that lead them to the right answers. I like to use a mix of practice problems, visual aids, charts, study guides, and flashcards.

My education centered around math and science, and in 2018 I graduated UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Biological Anthropology. I also took pre-requisite courses for nursing school and passed the nursing school entrance exam.

For several years, I worked for a nanny agency called College Nannies, Sitters, and Tutors where I cared for kids with learning disabilities, ADHD, and Autism. I also spent the last year working as a teaching assistant at Altus Schools, a charter school in southern California that catered mostly to Special Ed and English learner students. I continue to work under the guidance of several teachers in my private tutoring.

Great Tutor - Very Knowledgeable

Amy has been wonderful helping my daughter with pre-calculus. She explains everything clearly and takes the time to go through each problem step by step, breaking it down in a way that makes it much easier to understand. My daughter especially likes that Amy sometimes shows her helpful tricks or easier ways to approach certain problems. They’ve been doing their tutoring sessions online, and it has worked out really well. After just this past week, my daughter already feels more comfortable with the material and, most importantly, she understands the way Amy explains things. We’ve been very happy with her and would definitely recommend Amy to anyone looking for a patient and effective math tutor!
