Hi! My name is Yvette. I have a MS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a BS in Biology with a minor in Psychology from UCSD. Over my academic journey, I've gotten more interested in the world of data and programming, and have built up my knowledge in data science and the use of R, python, and Matlab for examining and analyzing data. During my time in school, I've been thankful to have very patient friends, teaching assistants, and professors, who have all helped me to better understand my subjects in the places I've struggled, and I hope to be just as patient, clear, and helpful in my own tutoring.
I've received A's in my data science courses at Johns Hopkins University and at UCSD, and have learned how to create ShinyApps through R. My current job's primary coding language is also R, which we script to pull data from databases, clean data, and analyze it. I also have experience using git for version control with the code I write and modify.
I majored in Biology in my undergrad with a GPA of 3.65. I've taken courses such as physiology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and various other biology classes. In my masters, I also continued to take neuroscience and biomedical courses that built off the biology knowledge that I had learned in undergrad.
I began learning the basics of MATLAB in undergrad, which became one of the core languages for assignments in my masters degree. I also used Matlab to analyze my thesis data, which consisted of looking at eye position traces and locating different eye movements. Python also became a language I used often in my masters classes, especially in my machine learning courses.
I hope to share with you my knowledge at the best of my abilities, so that you can excel in your learning. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you'd like to schedule a lesson!
