Since 2015 I have mentored over 900 learners of all ages. I began as a high school peer tutor with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. In college, I worked with Neighborhood Schools Program to provide affordable academic support to k-12 students on the South Side of Chicago and volunteered as an arts mentor for Chicago Public Schools. Most exciting, I have been a teaching assistant on archaeological field schools. I was a college varsity swimmer with 14 years in competition and taught many athletes to swim. After 2020 I began teaching art, history, writing and social science online to students around the world! I love helping people reach their goals and find their passion for learning.

My day job is as an archaeologist, with experience in technical writing and field research. I am a Registered Professional Archaeologist with a master’s in Maritime Archaeology from Flinders University (Chancellors Commendation 6.9/7.0 GPA). Additionally, I hold bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology as well as History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Chicago (Magna Cum Laude, 3.9/4.0 GPA). I also work as a Spanish-English interpreter and visual artist. I share my interests and specialised advice on archaeology, art history, anthropology, and social science research.

I have worked with learners seeking to comprehend course material, ace tests, improve writing skills, or boost their careers. I enjoy helping people with learning disabilities, aphasia, and mental health concerns. I adapt my teaching style to the individual needs of each student.

I have a history of academic achievement and share study skills with applicants. Several PhD, Ivy League college and high school applications I edited got into their top choice programs. I gained acceptance to Oxford among other selective schools. In high school, I obtained a GPA of 4.48/4.0, an SAT Perfect Score (Writing/Verbal) and 5 on AP English Lang., AP Spanish, AP World History, AP US History, AP Environmental Science, and AP US Gov/Politics.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Miss Iris is friendly and easy to talk to. The discussion went so smoothly. I was facing difficulty in articulating my ideas and she was the best option around to connect with. She was good at discussing any topic. She was so knowledgeable on the topic.

Knowledgeable Instructor

As an adult, I was a little nervous to take swim lessons, and decided that 2022 was the year to face and overcome this obstacle. I just had my first lesson with Iris, she is a true professional and very patient. Iris explained in detail the plan for my swimming lessons which includes, breathing, gear and the types of form. I am very excited that I got Iris as my tutor and I look forward to in-person swimming lessons.

No better tutoring than Wyzant! Thank you for helping! I just need a couple of assignments left to have my bachelors and without this tutoring I wouldn’t complete it! So thankful!
