When I was starting university, I started my first teaching job as a violin and viola teacher. This was my first experience helping someone develop their skills. Two years later, I started teaching music theory since that was my major in my university. Music has been something that I have been passionate about since I was in middle school, but my greatest passion has always been teaching. Five years, ago I moved to South Korea to pursue another dream that I had: being an English teacher. I spent the last five years teaching students from age 5 to 28.
What I love about tutoring specifically is that compared with teaching in a classroom setting, there is more focus on the individual. I feel that I can easily tailor each lesson to the student. I also enjoy seeing my students progress in their ability and gain confidence in the material that we cover. I am also motivated by my students as well; when I see them working hard, I match their efforts to assure maximum success.
I have a TOEFL/TESOL certification of 100 hours, but more importantly I have five years of experience in teaching English as a second language. In the last five years, I have had students from all different levels. I have taught absolute beginners to high-level English speakers. I have taught each of these subjects in each of my years of teaching. I particularly enjoy teaching grammar and writing.
Last year, I won Teacher of the Year for the academic year of 2017-2018 in the academy I taught. This was quite exciting and an honorable experience for me.
