I have my Master's in Business Administration and my major was in Geographical Information Systems. I have worked on federal grants projects where I was performing data analytics and geocoding the information on the maps.
The thing that makes me a great Ruby, JavaScript, jQuery instructor is the connecting the programming world situation with our day to day situation. That helps the student to understand and retain the concept really well.
I really enjoy teaching by including real-life situations and explain how to break down bigger problems into smaller chunks.
