About Michaela

Bio

For most of my life the one word people would use to describe me is "creative." In terms of how I'm creative, well I'm pretty across the board -- many things catch my interest and I may be passionate about digital 3D animation today, and baking scones with the berries from my garden tomorrow. Aside from creative expression, not many things bring me as much joy as teaching others tools that will allow them the same liberating freedom I experience.

I am operable on both Mac and Windows. I prefer Mac, because it is much more design-friendly and the interface is much cleaner and I suppose more fun to work with. I use both OS's for my job, as I have for the past 6+ years. I often use the Terminal application to execute more in-depth commands that I need.

Again, this is a program I use daily for my job in a corporate office setting. It is an essential component of my communication requirements, and as I like to tinker, I have discovered everything there is to know about Outlook. I like to customize settings, and so I pretty much know the ins and outs of the entire thing.

I am required to use Windows, even if I prefer Mac, because I work in a corporate office setting, where most of my older colleagues have been using Windows for the entirety of their careers. As I am the younger of my coworkers, I am often utilized as an IT-like resource in assisting them on how to use basic to more expert areas of the OS.

Aside from a lifetime of experimenting with different elements & styles of photography, my Media Communications degree mandated an in-depth study & knowledge of photography. I understand all the essential concepts and how to utilize these to their full potential in ideal photo composition.

Again, I have had a lifetime of practice in video production. Beyond the actual operation of the camera (whether camcorder or DSLR), I can operate any standard post-production software such as Avid, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut (if necessary). I also understand all the essential components of a successful video shoot (e.g. director, operators, cut recorder, etc.) and have had much practice at my current job of 2+ years or all throughout my 4-year college experience (AND prior to that, as I have been shooting since I was very young).
