Bio

My educational background is in both Physics (B.S. from UC Davis) and Electrical Engineering (M.S. from CSU Sacramento). I am a Professor of Physics at multiple institutions including: Sacramento State University, Folsom Lake College, Sierra College, and California Northstate University. Before that, I was a tutor at FLC Learning Skills Dept. and then became the manager of the entire program, teaching tutors how to become better at the craft. I was also a high school teacher for a few years before becoming a professor.

Tutoring is a genuine passion of mine. I love to help students grasp their material at a high level and unlock their potential. I am flexible in my schedule and location. I love tutoring things as basic as Algebra 2, or as complex as Quantum Mechanics. My favorite subjects to teach are introductory physics, either calculus-based or trigonometry-based, and Electronics/Circuits.

Physics is a subject that, once I started to learn, I couldn't get enough of. I've tutored physics for many years now since 2013. I've helped a lot of people learn to love the subject too. I try to show the elegance behind the math descriptions of our physical world, but I also like to offer the most straightforward approach to solving physics problems of any level.

I am a laid back tutor who will challenge you to learn at your best. I am flexible with making and changing appointments, and I will adapt to your learning style to make our sessions as effective as possible. Even in a time crunch, I am available to schedule with you, and I can give you the help you need in a timely manner.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is the bread and butter for a physicist and engineer. I have used it so extensively in my career that it is second nature to me. I have tutored this subject longer than any other, going back to college in 2012. I know all of the common challenge areas for students, and I love to try to get my students to see the concepts behind the math, not just have to memorize techniques.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra is the bread and butter for a physicist and engineer. I have used it so extensively in my career that it is second nature to me. I have tutored this subject longer than any other, going back to college in 2012. I know all of the common challenge areas for students, and I love to try to get my students to see the concepts behind the math, not just have to memorize techniques.
Calculus

Calculus

Having studied/taught physics for years, I have used Calculus extensively. I have even taught Calculus a few different times at a couple of the colleges. Along with that, I have tutored the subject for even more years, learning common challenge areas for students. This is a subject that can often seem challenging and abstract, but I always aim to show how logical it is and why it's so important. Most importantly, I show the straightforward ways to tackle problems.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I first took Intro to Differential Equations at American River College in 2014 and upper division ordinary differential equations and upper division partial differential equations at UC Davis in 2014 and 2015. I tutored differential equations every semester after first taking it, so I am used to the introductory first course content and how to tutor it.
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

At UC Davis, I took multiple courses on: electric circuits I and 2, electronic active circuits, systems and signals, device and semiconductor physics, and electromagnetic theory. EE was a subject that came harder to me due to more applications, approximations, models, etc., so I learned how to learn this subject from a very approachable view. Due to that, these are actually the easiest courses for me to tutor since I usually know the challenging areas.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

After taking Linear Algebra and further mastering it in coursework involving Signals and Systems, Quantum Mechanics, Condensed Matter Physics, Fourier Analysis, etc., I've gained a lot of insight into the subject. Its applications are ubiquitous in a lot of science and engineering, and the type of reading is very crucial for this subject. I find it very beneficial for Linear Algebra students to follow my reading homeworks - basically making sure you're understanding the book's main points and derivations.
Physical Science

Physical Science

I have a B.S. in Physics, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and teach Physics at multiple colleges: Sacramento State University, Sierra College, and Folsom Lake College. I have specifically taught Intro to Physical Science (for non-sci majors) at FLC, so I know how to take the subject at an approachable level.
Physics

Physics

I have a B.S. in Applied Physics, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and teach Physics at multiple colleges: Sacramento State University, Sierra College, and Folsom Lake College. I absolutely love this subject, which is why I've made a career out of teaching it. I did research in electrical material properties of condensed matter and nano-systems (such as carbon nano-tubes, III-V compounds, etc.) at UC Davis.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Having studied/taught physics for years, I have used Precalculus extensively. I have tutored the subject for many years, learning common challenge areas for students. This is a subject that is basically a review of Algebra and Trigonometry, although typically harder than before for the student. I enjoy this subject a lot, as having a good foundation is important in order to study Calculus and Physics.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Having studied/taught physics for years, I have used and tutored Trigonometry extensively. This is a subject that is so crucial for students to learn. Having used Trigonometry for so long in my teaching of Physics, I've learned the best ways to teach it, and I have certainly learned the common challenge areas for students.
