Chemical Engineering

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University. As a student, I was a Teaching Assistant in the Introduction to Engineering & Problem Solving (E101) course. In this role I assisted with teaching engineering course material, and the design and construction of students’ engineering design projects. I also served as the appointed group leader on a design project required for degree completion. The goal of the project was to design a fed-batch fermentation process that would prevent undesirable chemical byproducts, as well as increase cell growth and Green Fluorescent Protein production. My responsibility was to correspond weekly with the university’s Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center on the progress, costs and operational requirements of the design. I also assisted with material balances and sizing calculations for downstream (recovery and purification) unit operations, as well as the cost analysis and process production schedule for the project. The process that our group designed was implemented as a training tool for students enrolled in the university’s course in large-scale biomanufacturing. I have also interned with Dow Chemical Company and Milliken & Company; two of the top specialty chemical companies in the country. I worked on an independent Process Automation project as an intern at Dow Chemical Company. My work consisted of utilizing simulation software to model operating conditions for critical chemical processes. I also created an easy-to-use manual for the simulation software to be used by the Process Automation team. As a Printing Department intern in a Dye & Finishing Plant at Milliken & Company, I created and implemented a procedure for use of a handheld spectrophotometer and industrial mixer. These efforts improved chemical dispersion and overall fabric preparation, and reduced fabric preparation time by more than half, resulting in thousands of dollars of annualized labor savings. I worked closely with a team of engineer

I am well-versed in the Common Core aligned curriculum that is the basis of much of the content on the PRAXIS exam. I assist with all aspects of this curriculum on a daily basis in my role as an Instructor. In this role I have also assisted several clients who were working towards certification for their teaching credentials. I specifically assisted them with test preparation for the PRAXIS exam. As a result I have gained a thorough understanding of the test structure and content, as well as a knowledge of strategies for test-taking.

Just the help our son needs

We first scheduled sessions with Shannadore for College Algebra, but we soon discovered she can help in so many more areas. Currently, she is tutoring our son in Microeconomics and Classical Mythology. Her knowledge of study techniques and test taking strategies is superb. I would recommend her to anyone looking to improve grades or ways to study more effectively.
