I hold a BCLAD multi-subject teaching credential with special authorizations to teach English to 9th grade and Spanish through high school. Over the last two years, I developed and taught the ELD and ELA curriculum for the newcomer Bilingual Academy at Mills Middle School in Rancho Cordova, California. My entire career as a bilingual teacher has focused on developing, adapting, and scaffolding ELA content for second language learners. I am an expert at teaching phonics, linguistics, vocabulary, grammar, and essay writing to regular EO students and English Learners.
For adults, I created the Taxi and Tourism English Academy CEFR Levels A1 to A2. I designed these specialized courses to accelerate English acquisition by using targeted transition strategies from Spanish to English. I emphasize linguistics and pronunciation in the program's early stages, then teach the grammar needed to reach CEFR levels A1 and A2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). I teach this course bilingually to beginners in either Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese.
