My name is Demetrius, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from California State University, East Bay, and a Master’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. My background has given me a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and problem solving, which I use to help students understand complex concepts in a clear and approachable way. I tutor a wide range of subjects, with a focus on helping students build strong foundations in elementary through high school math, while also offering support in more advanced topics such as calculus and statistics when needed.
I have over five years of experience working with students from 3rd grade through college, including engineering students in rigorous coursework. My experience is primarily one on one, allowing me to tailor each session to the student’s learning style and pace. I have also worked with students with special needs, which has strengthened my patience, adaptability, and ability to create a supportive environment that meets students where they are.
I focus on building strong relationships with my students by being friendly, respectful, and understanding of their individual needs. I take time to connect with their interests so they feel comfortable and engaged during sessions. My approach is patient and student centered, and I guide students through challenging problems while encouraging them to do the heavy lifting so they build confidence and long term problem solving skills.
