Dear Students and Parents,
With over 20 years of experience in the classroom, I have seen firsthand that 6th grade is the ultimate "hinge" year for a student's mathematical journey. This is the stage where math transitions from concrete arithmetic to abstract reasoning, introducing concepts like ratios, integers, and algebraic expressions. These topics can either click and build a foundation for middle school success, or they can become a significant hurdle that impacts a student's academic confidence. As a current 6th-grade teacher, I am uniquely positioned to help your student navigate this transition. I have a deep, daily working knowledge of the Common Core standards and the specific ways students are evaluated on modern standardized tests. My credentials aren't just in a textbook; they are rooted in two decades of successfully guiding diverse learners through the 5th-6th grade school curriculum.
In my tutoring sessions, I believe that "how" we learn is just as important as "what" we learn. My approach is patient and rooted in the belief that every student can master math when it is demystified. I specialize in breaking down intimidating, multi-step problems into manageable, "bite-sized" pieces. Beyond just solving for (x), my goal is to foster a supportive environment where students feel safe asking questions and making mistakes. By building a conceptual bridge, I ensure your student gains the tools and the self-assurance they need to excel in middle school.
